Sharing your information

We will not discuss your personal or financial circumstances.  Any information and proof that you provide will be used to process your claim for housing benefit and council tax benefit.

However, the council has a duty to protect public funds and we may need to check your information with other information we hold. We may also exchange information with other agencies, councils, government departments or bodies administering public funds to:

• Make sure the information is accurate
• Prevent or detect crime
• Protect public funds

Sharing information with a third party

We cannot disclose information to a third party without your written authorisation (for example a solicitor or social worker). If you would like us to share information with them you must provide us with authorisation.
