Overpayments

It is important that you make every effort to repay any overpaid housing benefit. There are several different payment options listed below. Please contact a member of staff immediately so that a payment arrangement can be made. If you do not pay in full or make an arrangement to pay, you may incur additional costs.

Direct debit

We are unable to take direct debit payments for housing benefit overpayments.

Online

You can pay your housing benefit overpayment online with most major credit or debit cards using our secure site.

Standing order

To set up a standing order you'll need the following information

• Our bank account number - 65711408
• Our banking sort code - 62-30-79
• Your housing benefit invoice number  

Automated payment service

This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

To make payments using your credit or debit card please call 0845 600 0611 and choose the option for housing benefit overpayments. Please ensure you have your housing benefit invoice number available. You can find your housing benefit invoice number on the front of the invoice.

Cheque

Cheques must be made payable to Southwark Council and crossed 'account payee'. Cheque payments are due on or before the first of the month and should be sent to:
