Unwanted vehicle disposal

Getting rid of old cars and other vehicles can be expensive and time consuming.

If you have an old vehicle that you don't want, you are a Southwark resident, and your vehicle is registered at your Southwark address, then Southwark Council can collect it and dispose of it free of charge.

How to arrange a collection

Follow these four simple steps

  1. Check you have taken all your personal belongings out of the car
  2. Detach and send section 9 of your Vehicle Registration Document, V5, to the Driver's Vehicle Licensing Authority stating that you are no longer the registered keeper of the vehicle and write on the slip 'scrapped by Southwark Council'
  3. Download and complete the coluntary surrender of motor vehicle form. If you are not able to print the form, you can request that we post one to you.
  4. Return the form along with your Vehicle Registration Document, V5, by post or in person to the address below
