In Southwark we have a well established and dedicated fostering service with a great support network. We have up to 350 children placed with Southwark foster carers at any one time.
Southwark has a rich and diverse population and the children who require foster care come from a variety of racial and ethnic backgrounds. Wherever possible, we seek to place children with families of the same cultural background in order to sustain their sense of cultural identity.
We need foster carers for both short and long term fostering. We are looking for people from White British, West and East African and African Caribbean backgrounds. We also need foster carers from all other backgrounds so that we are able to place as many children as possible with families who live in and near to the borough.
