Southwark Council is made up of 21 wards, each electing three councillors making a total of 63. Your councillors are responsible for agreeing the council's policies, service levels and how the council's money is spent.
Elections for the council are held every four years. The last election took place on 6 May 2010.
Currently Labour hold 35 seats, the Liberal Democrats hold 25 and the Conservatives hold three.
The leader of the council is currently Cllr Peter John (Labour).
The council employs staff known as officers to carry out its policies and run services. Officers are managed by Chief Executive Annie Shepperd.
The council is comprised of eight departments.
