Returning to work
You may be able to continue receiving help with your housing costs for a while after starting your new job, and there are some other benefits that you could be entitled to, including a job grant, working tax credits or child tax credit.
This means that you won't have to worry about making ends meet until you receive your first paycheque, and you'll be better off than you were on benefits. If you're about to return to work, speak to your Jobcentre Plus advisor and your housing officer about your change of circumstances and they will be able to assist you.
Benefit check up
If you are working and are on a low income, it's a good idea to do a benefits check up to find out if you're missing out on any benefits you're entitled to. You can do this online at EntitledTo or at the Citizen's Advice Bureau, who offer free, confidential and independent advice.
