Our current borough wide housing strategy, which covers all tenures, was published in 2009 and covers the period to 2016. In July 2011 the Council published a new council plan, setting out ten fairer future promises including the commitment to make every Council home warm, dry and safe.
The Council Plan, alongside more recent developments such as the publication of national and London wide housing strategies will be important in delivering the housing strategy. We will continue to monitor and review progress against actions and targets with these developments in mind.
The Council is committed to developing a long-term vision for Southwark's housing. To that end, it has appointed an independent housing commission to explore options for the future financing, ownership and operation of Southwark's housing stock for the 30 years beyond 2015/16. The commission will report back to Cabinet in October 2012.
