The Cleaner Greener Safer programme has been helping Southwark residents transform their local areas since 2003. Over 2,950 projects have been funded in the past 16 years, from playground renovations and upgrades to sports facilities, cycle parking to tree planting, fencing to lighting improvements.

The application period for our 2019/20 programme is now open and will close on Monday 22 October.

Applications will be processed during November and December.

All eligible ideas are considered by your local ward councillors. Decisions will be announced at Community Council meetings in January to February 2019. You can find the dates of Community Council meetings here.

If you've applied to receive your funding as a grant, you will soon receive an initial assessment form which you must return to help us evaluate your idea. Visit our CGS grants page for more information.

If you have any questions regarding your application for capital funding or would like to be added to our mailing list, contact the CGS team by email cgs@southwark.gov.uk or by calling 020 7525 5813.

What is the Devolved Highways programme

The application form also collects ideas eas to improve the public highway which are being considered for an additional fund - the Devolved Highways programme. This is a programme of capital funding used to improve the public highway infrastructure and enhance transport facilities. This includes minor improvement schemes, such as improved pedestrian crossing points or traffic calming measures, or street greening works, such as the introduction of trees and grass verges. For more information, visit our devolved highways page.

Decisions on the 2019/20 Devolved Highways programme will be announced at Community Council meetings in January to February 2018. You can find the dates of Community Council meetings here.
