Polling places and polling districts review 2017

The Local Government Boundary Commission’s changes to Southwark’s Ward boundaries became law in November 2016 and these new ward arrangements will be in place for the local elections in May 2018. The final recommendations can be found on their website.

These changes mean the council has to carry out a review of its polling districts (these are geographical areas that are sub divisions of the Wards. A polling station will serve a polling district. So everyone living in a polling district will vote at the polling station for that district).  

A review ensures that polling stations are within a polling district to serve the voters who are allocated to it. 

During March till July 2017, the Council reviewed population figures, the new Ward boundaries and the list of current polling stations and buildings that could be used as polling stations to develop the new polling districts and identify the polling stations for those districts.  

Following the consultation which ended on the 22 September 2017, the Final PDR scheme (pdf, 2.8mb) shows the districts and any polling stations that have changed from previous elections and from the initial draft proposal.
