2018 borough council elections

The 2018 borough council elections are scheduled to be held on Thursday 3 May 2018. The previous local borough elections were in 2014 and the results can be viewed here.

Important dates

Poll cards for electors on the 1 March 2018 register will be sent out on or about 27 March 2018.

Postal votes for postal voters as at 13 March will be posted out on or about 16 April 2018.

Nomination papers

The nomination papers for all the wards can be found here:

The nomination paper has space for a total of 11 signatures and elector numbers. This is to provide a contingency name and signature, to assist those completing the nomination paper, should any of the first ten names or elector numbers be incorrect.

The Local Government Boundary Commission’s changes to Southwark’s Ward boundaries became law in November 2016. The elections to be held on 3 May 2018 will be contested on the new 23 ward boundaries.

In 2017, the council carried out a review of its polling districts and polling stations that will serve these districts in the local elections in May and the final scheme adopted can be viewed here.

New ward boundaries

The Register of Electors is due to be re-published, with effect from 1 February 2018. All those entitled to receive the register will receive the revised register, on the new ward boundaries, once this has been published on 1 February 2018.
