Budget equality analysis

As a public body under the Equality Act 2010's Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED), we must have due regard to the need to:

  • eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation
  • advance equality of opportunity between different groups
  • foster good relations between different groups

In addition to our duty under PSED, in September 2010 our Cabinet agreed in the budget principles to help us make budget decisions in regard to reduced funding from central government.

One of these principles was to "limit the impact of our budget decisions on the most vulnerable and to being transparent with any specific group or groups of users who may be affected by any cut or reduction in service provision, and to conduct an equalities impact assessment of budget proposals".

As part of this budget principle, and in line with our duties under the PSED, we've carried out a number of pieces of equality analysis on our budget proposals.
