Breach of restraint order leads to contempt of court offence

A DVD seller previously convicted and jailed for fraud, money laundering and counterfeiting offences pleaded guilty to contempt of court. The Inner London Crown Court heard he had breached a proceeds of crime restraint order. The multiple breaches included sending £8,500 to an off-shore investment company despite an order from the court restraining his assets for confiscation proceedings. He will be sentenced at a later date but has already been ordered to pay a confiscation order of £216,418.

Animal feed hygiene inspections

An annual program of inspections started at three supermarket premises that send waste food back into the animal feed chain. Typically supermarkets, and some microbreweries, will send waste food and by-products back to farms for use as animal feed. This activity requires mandatory registration with the council and compliance with hygiene regulations requirements to protect the integrity of the food chain. No problems were found.
