Support for High Streets
The High Street Challenge
Round 7 of the High Street Challenge is now open for applications. For this round we're inviting applications for funding under four new themes. These are:
- Supporting diverse independent food businesses
- Healthy high streets
- Digital high streets
- Cultural and community events
If you have a creative idea that fits one or more of these themes then we want to hear from you.
The aim of the High Street Challenge is to attract more people to Southwark’s high streets and town centres, and to increase the amount that is spent in the area. All projects will make a positive contribution to helping local SMEs thrive and making our high streets more inclusive, particularly for low income and BAME communities.
We launched our High Street Challenge Fund in 2014 to enable residents, businesses and community groups with an interest in Southwark to help improve their local high streets.
Since then we have funded nearly 50 projects across the borough, supporting great initiatives from markets to waste management via pop up shops and lots of events!
Who can apply?
The fund is open to a range of organisations and we welcome partnerships that bring together diverse skills and expertise. We want to hear from you if you're a:
- business network
- voluntary sector, community or resident group
- educational establishment such as a school, college, or university
- group from the arts or creative sectors
- individual business (if representative and supported by other local businesses)
