Business rates
Service outline
Business rates are collected by the council and paid into a central government pool. They are then redistributed on a percentage basis to each authority. They are collected from non-domestic rate payers and contribute to the cost of local services.
There will be one business rates bill for each non-domestic property whether it is owned, rented or empty.
Business rates are also referred to as National Non Domestic Rates (NNDR).
