Cycling in Southwark

Service outline

Cycling is a healthy, inexpensive and environmentally friendly way of getting about. It is very fuel efficient, fast and journey times are predictable. It is also great fun. Every journey is different and you can explore parts of the city you wouldn't normally see in a car or from a bus.

Cycle training is offered to all junior and primary schools, targeted mainly at year five and six pupils. The aim is to encourage the children to cycle to secondary school in the future.

We also provide on the road training which helps children make a solo journey on the road safely. All children are given a cycle helmet and high visibility clothing for the duration of the training.

Adults who live, work or study in the borough are also offered free training. The two hour training session is on a one to one basis and tailored to your needs. You will receive advice on cycling safety and bicycle maintenance.
