What Is Council Tax Benefit?

Council Tax Benefit will help you pay your Council Tax. It is based on:

• The Council Tax amount
• The income, information and savings of yourself and those living in your household
• Personal circumstances of yourself and those living in your household

You do not need to be in receipt of welfare benefits to receive Council Tax Benefit; you may also receive it if you are on a low income.

It is paid by your local council and will be credited directly to your Council Tax account.

What Is Second Adult Rebate Benefit?

2nd Adult Rebate will help you pay your Council Tax. It is based on:

• The Council Tax amount
• The income and savings of the 'Second Adults' in your household

It is not based upon your income and savings.

It is paid by your local council and will be credited directly to your Council Tax account.

If you qualify for both Council Tax Benefit and 2nd Adult Rebate you will receive whichever is higher.
