Salisbury Row

Location

Salisbury Row

Although mainly a residential area, Salisbury Row contains busy routes for vehicles and pedestrians. Located south west of the Old Kent Road and New Kent Road, the area benefits from the location of the Salisbury Row Park at its centre.

Enhancing the area

The council recognises that there is a need to enhance the local street environment, as the area is close to major regeneration work around Elephant and Castle which will bring more people into the area and place higher demands on the existing infrastructure.

The project team has held a series of walkabouts in order to understand what residents, councillors and officers feel are the main issues in their area. See the links below for an overview of the walkabouts.

Design workshop

A design workshop was held on September 22 2007 with many local residents who came along to share their ideas for design and safety improvements in their area. These discussions and exchange of ideas will be the main driver for proposed improvements and will assist the project team in developing initial design proposals. See the links below for an overview of the design workshop.

Consultation

A comprehensive public consultation was undertaken in January 2008. A review of the results was undertaken followed by design revisions. These are set out in the reports. The scheme will now progress to implementation with work expected on site in January 2009.

The consultation report is available to view and is split into four parts
