I have just moved into a Controlled Parking Zones (CPZ) and don't have the two types of proof described. Can I still get a residents parking permit?

Yes. You can get a one month permit after which time you should renew your permit with the correct proofs. In order to get a one month permit you must supply one valid proof of address and one valid proof of vehicle ownership from the following lists.

Proof of address, for residents who have just moved into a CPZ only

  • Estate or letting agency tenant agreement, not private agreement
  • Bank statement
  • Utility bill
  • Credit card statement
  • Home telephone bill
  • Housing association or council rent book
  • Proof of purchase of property, completion letter from solicitor

Proof of vehicle ownership, for residents who have just moved into a CPZ only

  • Vehicle registration document with change of address section completed
  • A valid insurance certificate showing the vehicle registration number and your address and postcode, within the CPZ

I have just purchased my vehicle and don't have the required documents - can I still get a permit?

Yes. If you have purchased a vehicle within the last three months, you can still get a permit if you supply the following documents

  • Either the garage bill of sale, or the new keeper supplement. Or the vehicle registration document with the new keeper details completed
  • A valid insurance certificate showing the vehicle registration number and your address and postcode, within the CPZ
  • Your proof of residence, described above

I have a company car or vehicle - can I still get a permit?

Yes. You must provide the following three documents

  • A typed letter on headed paper from either a senior company representative or the company secretary confirming that the vehicle is for your sole use, is kept by you and that the car is either owned or leased by the company
  • Either the vehicle registration document or a copy of the company's hire or lease agreement
  • Your proof of residence, described above

Is there a limit on the size of vehicles that can be issued a resident's parking permit?

Yes. The vehicle must be less than 2.28 metres high and less than 6.5 metres long. It must not weigh more than five tonnes.
