Green Badge PermitsGreen badges are used by medical and health professionals when making home visits to patients. The badge entitles the holder to park in certain restricted parking areas. Please note that the badge is not to be used by medical professionals as a convenient method of parking near their place of work.
You can only apply for the badge if your profession is listed in one of the groups shown below. If your profession is not shown in one of the groups below then you are not eligible to apply.
Green badge costs
The permits are valid for 12 months. Professionals who were previously eligible for British Medical Association, BMA, badge can get a discount on a green badge.
- Group one, doctors, midwives and district nurses, £10
- Group two, health visitors, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, £100
Applying by post or in person
To apply for a green badge parking permit you need to fill out a business parking permit.

When making your application you need to supply us with
- A signed and completed application form
- A photocopied proof of professional status
- If applying by post, a cheque or postal order made payable to Southwark Parking Services
- If applying in person, payment can be made by cash, credit or debit card, postal order or cheque, must be accompanied by cheque guarantee card
If you apply by post, your permit will be posted to you.
Please note that we do not offer a special postal delivery service and cannot be held responsible if a permit is lost in the post.
Conditions of use
1. Medical and health professionals may only use the green badge when they're on official duty or making home visits to patients 2. The badge can only be used on the vehicle for which it was issued 3. Green badge holders can park in the following restricted parking areas without making a payment or receiving a penalty charge notice
- Parking metres
- Council operated car parks
- Single yellow lines, for up to two hours providing loading restrictions are not in use
4. Green Badge holders are not allowed to park in the following restricted areas
- Doctors' parking bays
- Southwark housing estate car parks
- Footpaths
- Resident's parking bays
5. It is the responsibility of the badge holder to ensure that the badge is clearly displayed 6. It is the responsibility of the badge holder to ensure that the badge is renewed on time 7. Fraudulent use may result in the badge being withdrawn from the holder
