Maintenance
Road and pavement surfaces
Each year we carry out a survey of the condition of all Southwark's principal roads.
This gives us the information we need to draw up our annual structural maintenance programme. Red routes within Southwark are not included and are maintained by Transport for London.
Road markings and lines
The highways team will repaint yellow and white lines on the roads that have been worn away or resurfaced.
Click here for further information about rules regarding lines and road markings within Southwark's Controlled Parking Zones.
View a complete list of road markings and their meanings on the Highway Code website.
All lines on the highway must be authorised. Special lines are only allowed with prior approval of the Department for Transport.
Grass verges
We are responsible for making sure that all the grass verges within Southwark are regularly cut.
Please report any problems with verges to us by using our online Road Repair Reporting Form or by contacting us on 020 7525 2000 or at environment@southwark.gov.uk.
