What will happen to the empty land on the west of the bridge?
The land is perfect for developing into a high quality public space, and we want ideas from the people who will use it the most, you.
How can I get involved in developing the design of the bridge?
At this stage, we are working with local residents and will hold workshops later in the year. If you would like to get involved then contact Erica Blennerhassett on 020 7525 5462.
Will the bridge be safe?
The bridge has not been used for many years and work will take place to make sure it is structurally sound. We are also working with the Metropolitan Police design team to 'design out crime'. People will be visible on the bridge from lower levels (pdf 1mb) and an excellent lighting scheme will be installed.
Does this mean that there will be step free access to the station?
Yes. The options we are looking at aim to provide a more accessible route to South Bermondsey station, via Stubbs Drive and the new bridge.
