Southwark Plan
The Southwark Plan (or Unitary Development Plan) sets out the framework for future development and land use in Southwark. The policies in the Southwark Plan are used by development control to make decisions on individual planning applications in Southwark.
The Southwark Plan was adopted in July 2007 and, along with the London Plan, it makes up the current Development Plan for Southwark.
Local Development Framework
In 2004 the government introduced Local Development Frameworks as a replacement for Unitary Development Plans. Eventually the Southwark Plan will be replaced by the Local Development Framework.
The Local Development Framework is made up of a number of different documents. We have started to prepare several documents in our Local Development Framework. No Development Plan Documents have so far been adopted by the council.
Supplementary planning documents (SPD) and supplementary planning guidance (SPG)
SPDs and SPGs provide further information and guidance on policies in the development plan.
