Planning Applications

Street scene in SouthwarkAll planning applications must be submitted on the national standard planning application form known as 1APP.  You are encouraged to submit your application electronically using the Planning Portal website.

Applications submitted online via the Planning Portal use these standard forms. Combined forms are provided if you need to apply for two types of consent at the same time for your proposed development, e.g. planning permission and listed building consent. If you use one of these forms you will only need to complete one form but it will be treated as two applications and you will be given a unique reference number for each application.

All applications also need to comply with new national planning application requirements and the council’s own published local planning application requirements.

Applications that do not meet these requirements will not be accepted as valid and we will not be able to begin considering your application. If we consider your application to be invalid we will write to you and advise you of the reason(s) for this.  You will be given 30 days in which to submit the information required to make the application. If we do not receive this information within the 30 days your application will be treated as void and no further action will be taken on it.

All the statutory planning registers are available for inspection. These registers show details of all planning applications received and decided, advertisement applications received and decided, tree preservation orders made and confirmed and enforcement notices issued. These registers can be viewed at the Walworth One Stop Shop situated in Wansey Street, just of the Walworth Road near the Elephant and Castle. The One Stop Shop is open between 9.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday. The more recent parts of some of these registers can be viewed on this website.
