Considerate Contractors Scheme
The Considerate Contractors Scheme is designed to promote and encourage safe, considerate, clean and responsible builders and building sites.
It is a voluntary scheme operated by Southwark building control, in partnership with Southwark’s environmental services team.
The benefits of joining the scheme
All contractors who achieve a set level of performance will
- Receive a certificate of excellence
- Receive the right to use the Southwark Considerate Contractor logo for two years
- Be included in council publicity relating to the scheme
- In addition to the certificates there is an annual awards event where presentations are made to the top performers in the scheme.

Requirements
Developers and builders who wish to join will be expected to undertake their site activities beyond the minimum requirements demanded by legislation and in accordance with Southwark’s Environmental Code of Construction Practice.

How to apply
There are two ways to apply
1. Complete a registration form (378 kb) and return it via post to the building control team
2. Contact the building control team on 0845 600 1285 to be sent a registration form
If you are an existing member of the scheme and wish to update your information please complete an update of information form (220 kb).

Please note inclusion in this scheme does not mean that the council in any way guarantees or accepts responsibility for any aspect of the work undertaken by or agreements that a customer makes with a particular contractor. While the contractors on this scheme have undergone inspections we are unable to recommend any traders.
