New changes to Building Regulations Part F and LCanada Water station

Changes to Part F

Until October 1 2006 it will be acceptable for replacement windows to comply with the guidance in either The following link opens in a new windowTable 1 or Table 2 of Approved Document F 1995 (1 mb) in order to comply with the Building Requirement F1.

Until October 1 2006 replacement windows only need to have trickle ventilators or equivalent ventilation where the original windows had them.

Changes to Part L

The revised Part L 2006 Regulations came into effect on April 6 2006. From this date any building work must comply with the revised Part L 2006 Regulations unless it falls into one of the following categories

  • Work has started before April 6 2006 in accordance with a building notice, full plans application, an initial notice or an amendment notice
  • Where any notice, except full plans application, has been submitted before April 6 2006. Please note the work must start by October 1 2006.
  • If a full plans application has been deposited and fully approved before April 6 2006. Please note the work must start before April 1 2007.

If building work that is carried out under the transitional arrangements falls into the above categories, they will be subject to the current Part L (2002) Regulations and energy efficiency standards.
