Recycling for Flats above ShopsIf you live in a flat above a shop we can provide you with a household recycling collection service. We will provide you with clear bags for your recyclable materials. These clear bags are collected weekly from beside your nearest public refuse bin, by the shops.
How does the scheme work?
- We provide you with clear bags to recycle glass bottles and jars, paper, cardboard, cans, tins, aerosols, an
d plastic bottles. View the full list of all items that can be recycled.
- Your rubbish goes in your refuse bin or black bag
- Rinse out anything that has contained food and squash your plastic bottles and cardboard boxes
- Leave your clear bag out for collection from beside a nearby public litter bin, by 7am on your weekly collection day
- Contact us on 020 7525 2000 to request more clear bags
Getting started

If you live in a flat above a shop and want to recycle, pease contact us (see below) to find out if your property is suitable for the collection service. Assuming your property is eligible, we will send you a supply of recycling clear bags and information about the service, including: your collection day, what you can recycle and how to get more clear bags.
Other recycling facilities
If your property is not eligible for this collection service, there are about 550 local recycling centres across the borough. Using our interactive maps, you can find your nearest recycling site. If you have a suggestion for a new recycling site let us know. We are always looking for new, convenient locations for residents to be able to recycle.
If you live on an estate your property may be included in the clear bag recycling service.
If you live in a street based property with a wheelie bin we should be able to collect your recycling from your doorstep. Find out more about our blue box and bag recycling service.
