Confiscated sound systems put to good use
Since the noise team first got to work in 1997, we've seized tens of thousands of pounds worth of sound equipment from persistent noise offenders. Stereos, loud speakers, DJ equipment and hundreds of CD's confiscated by the team are given to deserving youth and special needs groups around the borough. Noise officers are on hand when the equipment is installed in it's new home to ensure that sound levels are not causing a nuisance to neighbouring properties.
Southwark noise team achieves second highest rate of prosecutions in London
The noise team successfully prosecutes persistent noise offenders. The punishments includes payment of hefty fines as well as legal costs. Offenders were also warned that if they continue to make noise, their noise making equipment would be forcibly removed.
Southwark residents give noise team a big "Thumbs Up"
Every person who made a complaint to the noise team receives a customer satisfaction questionnaire. 85% of people who responded thought the noise team was doing a good job and declared themselves "fully or mostly satisfied" with the service received.
Noise team gets to you quicker than ever before
The noise team attends to 74% of complaints within 45 minutes. Our target was to deal with 80% of calls within one hour. Now the target has been raised higher and next year the noise team aim to deal with 76% of calls within 45 minutes.
