Animal Questions and Answers I'm going on holiday - are there any good kennels or catteries in Southwark for my pet?
We can't recommend individual kennels or catteries, but we can give you a list of all kennels and catteries that are licensed by the council.
To get a copy of the list call 020 7525 2000 or email environment@southwark.gov.uk.
In order that you can put your animal in a kennel or cattery, your animal needs to have had all the necessary vaccinations. When you book your animal into a kennel or cattery, make sure you bring your animal's vaccination certificates with you. And remember to make sure they are up to date!
We recommend you visit a few kennels or catteries first, to see which one you think is best for your pet.
What can I do about dogs that won't stop barking?
Constant barking is a real nuisance. Dogs usually bark when they're left alone for long periods. If it's your own dog that's barking, go to www.rspca.org.uk for information and advice. Often training or changing the dog's conditions can solve the problem quickly.
If it's a neighbour's dog that is barking, get in touch the Enforcement Team on 020 7525 5777 or email noise@southwark.gov.uk.
Stray cats are causing a nuisance - what can I do?
The council does not have a service that deals with cats. However, there are many charitable organisations that can help. Try contacting the organisations listed at the bottom of this page.
