Education Business AllianceSouthwark Education Business Alliance (EBA), part of Southwark Council, brings together schools and business across the borough, working together for mutual gain. The EBA acts as a broker between schools, businesses and community groups, initiating ideas and getting projects off the ground.
The aim is to increase young peoples' aspirations and achievements and provide opportunities for life long learning and improvement. Not only do they achieve an invaluable insight into the learning skills and attitudes required by employers, they also learn important skills such as communication, team work, numeracy, IT skills and problem solving.
By working with schools, companies can enhance their standing in the local community, develop employees’ communication, leadership and teamwork skills, play an active part in the future of Southwark and enjoy the gratification of helping young people reach their potential.
The EBA work with a wide range of business partners, schools and other organisations such as:
- Learning and Skills Council (LSC)
- London Central Education Business Alliance (LCEBA)
- Department for Children, Schools and Families (DfCSF)
- More London
- London Development Agency (LDA)
- Connexions
- Southwark Chamber of Commerce
Many projects are related to key London industries such as health, hospitality, visitor services, construction and finance.
The EBA also supports partnerships by evaluating projects for their mutual benefit, monitoring links and generally offering help and advice. It aids businesses in developing policies for working with schools, and supports schools in maximising funding.
If you are a school, business or community group and would like further about the EBA and how to get involved please contact Chris Ace, Acting EBA manager or visit the external Southwark EBA website.
