Consultation on dates for admission of pupils to reception year
Specific consultation took place regarding reception year admissions to community primary schools and whether the local authority should ensure all children are admitted to reception year based on their birth date range as recommended by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).
Children born between September 1 and February 28 will be admitted in September and those born between March 1 and August 31 to be admitted in January. Based on responses received and feedback given to the director of children’s services from heads’ executive, it has been agreed that all admissions to reception year will be managed by the local authority according to their birth dates.
The admissions criteria for community schools and the primary coordinated admissions scheme have been amended accordingly.
