School Visits, Workshops and Programmes

There are lots of opportunities for educational visits in Southwark with ways for teachers to cover the curriculum for primary and secondary education in imaginative ways.

Education sessions at the Cuming Museum

The Cuming Museum education sessions are aimed at key stage 1 and key stage 2 children at a new and fully accessible location. School groups can visit the museum to enjoy our new galleries with trails, activities, costumes and games. We can accomodate school groups of up to 30 for either morning or afternoon visits. To book a class visit ring the Cuming Museum.

Southwark Cathedral education centre

The following link opens in a new windowThe Southwark Cathedral education centre exists to help teachers cover the curriculum for primary and secondary education in imaginative ways, while playing its part in the cathedral's outreach and mission and presenting the cathedral as a place of worship.

Environmental outings, workshops and programmes

Visit our environment education pages for some ideas for school outings, and organisations that can provide in-school workshops.

School visits to Manor Place Depot

We offer guided tours of the borough's waste transfer depot at Manor Place. Although it can be quite noisy and smelly, it's a great chance to visit the place that your rubbish comes to. Pupils will also get to visit the re-use centre to see what is done with the recycled bottles, paper and plastics and learn about the many different kinds of things that can be recycled.

Eco Schools in Southwark

The Eco Schools programme is a practical way to help schools to become more environmentally friendly. We have a part time officer who can plan and lead workshops with you and your students
and provide information about resources, funding, places to visit and environmental organisations that you might need.

Healthy Schools

The Healthy Schools programme is an exciting long term, national initiative that helps young people and their schools to be healthy. Find out how we are making a difference to the health and achievement of young people in Southwark schools.
