Ethnic Minority Achievement The ethnic minority achievement team work with schools, parents, carers and the community to promote the wellbeing, progress and attainment of children and young people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds.

Our work
Consultancy to schools
The team works with schools and other education settings through consultancy support offering advice and guidance on all aspects of minority ethnic achievement. We have ethnic minority achievment consultants working in assigned schools within localities.

Training and professional development
We provide a wide range of training courses and other professional development opportunities to schools and other services. We also facilitate termly network meetings for primary and secondary schools’ ethnic minority achievement staff.

Black pupils' achievement
We establish and support specific initiatives in schools to raise the achievement of black pupils, including the delivery of primary and secondary national strategy programmes.
Supporting pupils with English as an additional language
We support schools to develop effective teaching and learning for pupils with English as an additional language (EAL), including those who are advanced bilingual learners.
Managing mobility and supporting new arrivals
We offer consultancy support to schools to improve their management of pupil mobility and support for new arrivals.
