Supply Teaching

Permanent positions are not the only way to find work in our schools. We have, in partnership with our partner Supreme Education, established our own supply service.

Eligibility

Newly qualified teachers

Newly qualified teachers cannot spend more than four terms supply teaching before a full induction term must be completed. Supply teaching placements need to be for one term or more to form part of the induction period and must involve regular teaching of the same classes. The headteacher must agree at the start of the placement to take responsibility for the induction period.

Overseas trained teachers

Overseas teachers trained inside the EU, who are registered with the The following link opens in a new windowGeneral Teaching Council are able to join the supply service. Teachers trained in non European economic area countries who have work permits or working holiday visas or partiality are able to join the supply service. Overseas trained teachers who started teaching in the UK four years ago or more on a supply or permanent basis may not be employed as teachers after four years unless they have gained qualified teacher status.
