Positive Activities for Young PeopleA programme of fun and exciting activities for young people aged 8 to 19, or 25 for those with disabilities, who might be at risk from social exclusion or getting involved in anti-social behaviour or criminal activities.
Young people can involve themselves in activities which can help them gain access to education, employment and training opportunities.
Support and guidance
Whilst on the project participants are supported by a key worker. Key workers help identify young people at risk, work with them to deal with issues which are holding back their development and organise activities that will best help them.
It is a year-round programme which is run in the evenings, during school holidays and, in specialist services, during school time. Activities are designed to give young people a chance to make the most of their talents, skills and abilities and to give them a chance to reach their full potential.
Last year, nearly 1500 young people took part in these activities.
What we can help young people achieve
- Enrolment in long-term education or training
- Involvement in the arts, sports and cultural activities, even after the programme has ended
- Reducing criminal or anti-social behaviour
- Contributing in a positive way to the development of the community
