The Duke of Edinburgh's Award
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a voluntary, non-competitive and flexible programme of cultural and adventurous activities for all young people, whatever their background or ability. There are bronze, silver and gold awards. The scheme is usually run through schools, youth clubs and voluntary organisations and is aimed at those aged 14 and over.
The Youth Achievement Award
The Youth Achievement Award offers young people the opportunity to receive an award for their participation in a youth club or project. It helps to motivate and engage young people in taking on responsible activities and learning new skills.
Run by UK Youth, there are four levels of achievement with differing levels of responsibility
- Bronze - Taking part in activities organised by others
- Silver - Sharing responsibility for a project or activities. Young people work with adults to achieve a goal with the young person taking at least 50% of the responsibility
- Gold - Full responsibility for the project with the support of an adult worker
