Early Years Centres

Southwark's nine early years centres offer full and part-time quality childcare and education for children aged from birth to five years old. We welcome applications from parents or carers of children under five who live or work in the borough of Southwark. Priority is given to Southwark residents.

All centres are located near to public transport routes to central London and other key areas, ideal for parents commuting to and from work. A transport service may be available for children who live a long distance from their nearest centre. Find the locations of the centres.

At the centres, qualified staff create a positive learning environment, enabling children to reach their full potential. Each child is allocated a key worker who supports them throughout their time at the centre and who can discuss your child’s progress and achievements with you.

Supporting children with different needs

We offer inclusive provision for children with special needs in all our centres. Professional specialist support staff assist in meeting children’s individual needs. If your child has special needs or a disability, your special needs health visitor or special needs social worker can help you apply for a place for your child.

Our experienced cooks pay particular attention to individual dietary requirements and offer well-balanced nutritious meals.

All our centres are committed to achieving the Southwark quality assurance kitemark. We invite parents and carers to play an active role in the development of our centres, and to participate in activities and special events for the children.

Fees and financial help

Fees include meals and are subject to annual review. We encourage parents to apply for the working and child tax credits to help with the cost of childcare. We also welcome students in receipt of bursary or childcare grants and employees in receipt of childcare vouchers.
