Our vision is for all children to grow up in a caring, stable environment, with real opportunities to achieve their full potential. Our services give children, young people and their families the opportunity to enjoy the prosperity of the borough. Including educational, social and cultural benefits, which contribute to positive community life.  

What's available to you and your familyMother and child

We provide lots of activities in your local area, including fun for families with young children and extended services available in and around schools. Young people aged 13 to 19 can also get involved in events and activities on the Whatever website.

You can contact the family information service for free impartial guidance and advice on children and family services in Southwark. Children and family care services help support families experiencing difficulties.

The adoption and foster care  service recruits and supports foster carers and adoptive families to look after those children who cannot be cared for within their own family.

Visit the nurseries and childcare page to find out more about; pre-schools, parent and toddler groups and out of school clubs. Our help and advice pages provide useful links and information on a range of issues.


Children have a right to grow up safely. Find out how we are striving to safeguard children and protect them from harm. The youth offending team works to prevent offending by children and young people.


Working together Family in the park

  • Southwark youth council is a voice for young people run by young people - we are listening to their voices, which help to influence improvements in our neighbourhoods

  • The Young Southwark Partnership  includes the key agencies we work with in relation to children, young people and their families helping everyone to realise their full potential
