Camberwell Leisure Centre

Camberwell investment logo

Southwark Council recognises the value of Camberwell Leisure Centre to the community as well as its historical importance. It opened in 1892.

On March 31 2009 Southwark Council was awarded funding of £1.45m to go towards improving the centre. The funding, together with £1.5m from Southwark’s Investing in Leisure programme, will be used to renovate the facility to support the delivery of the free swimming programme designed to increase participation in swimming amongst under 16s and over 60s.

The council is pleased to announce that refurbishment works will commence (subject to planning approval) in Autumn 2009, and the pool is expected to reopen in Summer 2010.
