Getting Here on Land

The following page provides information on how to get to South Dock Marina by public transport or road.

By public transport

Check your public transport route quickly and easily on Transport for London's The following link opens in a new windowjourney planner website.

  • Bus, frequent buses run from nearby Surrey Quays up to London Bridge and down to Greenwich
  • Tube, Surrey Quays is on the East London line and Canada Water is on the East London line and Jubilee Line and are both about 15 minutes' walk away
  • Rail, nearest stations are South Bermondsey, which is a 20 minutes' walk and London Bridge, via tube from Canada Water 
  • Riverbus, fast riverbus service runs from Greenland Pier right by the lock entrance. View information about the The following link opens in a new windowThames Clippers riverboat commuting services  

By Road

Directions from east London

  • Take the A13 towards central London
  • After the Isle of Dogs, look for the turn off to the left for the Rotherhithe tunnel. Please note that this is restricted in height and width, and unsuitable for boat deliveries
  • Come out of Rotherhithe tunnel and turn left at the roundabout. After about a quarter of a mile, you'll see a park on your right and the underground station ahead. The road becomes part of a one way system
  • Pass traffic lights and Redriff Road on your left. There are shops on both sides of the road
  • At the next lights, with a Barclays Bank on the corner, turn left into Plough Way. Continue until the end of the road where you'll find a roundabout
  • Turn left into Calypso Way which is only a few yards long. Park where you can and walk past the crane to the lock. The Marina office is the glass fronted building across the lock

Directions from west and central London

  • Take Jamaica Road towards Rotherhithe
  • At the Rotherhithe Tunnel roundabout, turn right
  • After about a quarter of a mile, you'll see a park on your right and the underground station ahead. The road becomes part of a one way system
  • Pass traffic lights and Redriff Road on your left. There are shops on both sides of the road
  • At the next lights, with a Barclays Bank on the corner turn left into Plough Way. Continue until the end of the road where you'll find a roundabout

Directions from the south via A2

There are two options.

Option one 

  • Turn left at the Sun in the Sands roundabout and cross Blackheath
  • Drop down the hill towards Deptford. After passing under the Docklands Light Railway bridge, turn right into Deptford Church Street. At the end of this, turn left into Evelyn Street. After a little while you will pass over a hump backed bridge
  • Look for a Shell petrol garage on your right and at this turn right into Oxestalls Road. At the end of this, at a mini roundabout, turn left into Grove Street
  • At the end turn right into Plough Way. After 50 yards there is a roundabout
  • Turn left into Calypso Way and park where you can. Walk past the crane to the lock. The Marina office is the glass fronted building across the lock

Option two

  • Turn left at the next A2 turn off and proceed through Greenwich
  • Just after seeing the Maritime Museum on your left you will see shops on both sides of the road.
  • Bear right and then bear left to continue in the same direction. You will cross the lift bridge across Deptford Creek
  • After about three quarters of a mile you will cross another hump backed bridge. Look for a Shell petrol garage on your right
  • At this garage turn right into Oxestalls Road. At the end of this, at a mini roundabout, turn left into Grove Street
  • At the end turn right into Plough Way. After 50 yards there is a roundabout
  • Turn left into Calypso Way and park where you can. Walk past the crane to the lock. The Marina office is the glass fronted building across the lock

Parking for visitors

  • Cars cost £1.50 per day

Parking for berth holders

  • One car per berth holder, £180 annually
  • Additional cars per berth holder subject to availability, please contact us for details
