The Safeguarding team produces a number of publications each year that relate to vulnerable adults, adult abuse and social work in Southwark.

Annual Report

IMCA Protocol 

• The Safeguarding adults and independent mental capacity advocate protocol (pdf 45kb) aims to assist staff conducting safeguarding adults investigations with regard to IMCA involvement

Information Sharing Protocol

• The Safeguarding adults information sharing protocol (pdf 61 kb) provides clear guidance on the exchange of sensitive information concerning allegations of abuse

Operational Guidance

• An updated version of the Safeguarding adults operational guidance document will be available here soon. 

Policy and Procedures

• The Safeguarding adults policy and procedure (pdf 1.13mb) aims to assist staff in all agencies to promote the prevention of abuse and to safeguard adults wherever abuse has occurred. It replaces the previous adult protection policy and procedures document

Serious Case Review Protocol 

• The Safeguarding adults serious case review protocol (pdf 23 kb) ensures that public interest is best served by the presence of an effective and robust serious case review process.

Whistle-blowing Protocol

• The Safeguarding adults whistle-blowing protocol (pdf 21 kb) highlights client interest and the common law ‘duty of care’ in relation to whistle-blowing
