Direct Payments for Carers

What are direct payments?

Direct payments are a way of giving people who receive community care services or carers' services more independence, choice and control over services they receive.

Instead of giving you services the council purchases or provides, we can give you a cash payment so you can organise your own services. This gives you more independence for meeting your own needs in a way that suits you.

Am I eligible for direct payments?

Direct payments are for carers who have had a carers assessment and have been assessed as eligible for carers services. You must be willing and able to manage the payments (with or without assistance) and able to make decisions about the services you receive.
