Heygate Leaseholder OptionsA comprehensive policy has been adopted for Heygate leaseholders which includes buying back leaseholder property and where appropriate, guaranteeing compensation.
In some cases, there will be leaseholders who will not be eligible for council assistance. These are
- Absentee Landlords
- Property companies
- Persons who applied for the Right to Buy after 19 February 2004
- Persons who acquired their property on the open market after 19 February 2004
To ensure that leaseholders are supported through this process, two case management officers have been assigned to work closely with them.
The case management officers will explain the leaseholder options available, and provide support and advice throughout the financial assessment stage, and, if required, provide support in finding alternative accommodation.
