Southwark Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Network

The lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) Community Development Worker works in partnership with the Southwark LGBT Network and Southwark Anti Homophobic Forum and the community as a whole to offer: social events, meetings and talks on a variety of issues and topics, group outings, access to support services, arts and culture events and projects to build the community.

The work aims to offer and build a vibrant, diverse and accepting community where the LGBT community, their lives and relationships are valued, accepted and grow for the years ahead. Our partnership work aims to serve over 12,000 people from the LGBT community in Southwark and we host over 50 events each year to achieve this. Visit www.southwark-lgbt.org for more information and for an updated calendar of events.

Southwark LGBT History

The Southwark Anti Homophobic Forum (SAHF) is the longest established lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) Forums of its kind. The Forum works to meet the needs of the LGBT community in key areas, including: education, safety in the home, the streets and housing.

The Forum was established in 1995 and acts as an advisory body to the council and it various departments, the police, and other relevant agencies on matters concerning LGBT hate crime.

The Forum is run by volunteers from the LGBT community and works in partnership with representatives from agencies and/ or organisations both statutory and voluntary that work with or for LGBT in Southwark.

Established in 2002, The Southwark LGBT Network is a social and support group of LGBT people and their friends who live and work in Southwark. The Network is run by volunteers from the LGBT community and aims to create a series of safe spaces for all LGBT people in the borough. It tries to ensure that its activities are not set in pubs or other alcohol related venues.
