Canada Water Southwark Council is leading an exciting regeneration programme at Canada Water that will deliver a major new centre for Rotherhithe where people will be able to shop, socialise and sit by the dockside and enjoy the wildlife.
Where the project is up to now
The planning committee granted outline planning permission at the end of August 2006 for Site A, close to Needleman Street, and Site B, adjacent to Surrey Quays Road.
The council also resolved to grant detailed permission for important public realm works around both sites. The plans will provide new residential, commercial and community facilities laid out within a series of new streets, walkways, pedestrian and cycle routes.
The plans will include a new library and civic plaza, private and affordable housing in a mixture of tenures, flexible studio workshops for start-up and small businesses, new restaurants, cafés and local shopping.
