London Bridge Investment Framework
London Bridge is undergoing considerable change. A number of large scale development schemes are either under construction, or planned for implementation at London Bridge, including
Southwark Council has prepared a draft London Bridge investment framework to act as a guide to the development of new buildings and investment in new infrastructure at London Bridge.
As part of the planning permissions granted for developments at London Bridge, the council enters into a number of section 106 agreements with developers to provide contributions to offset negative impacts caused by new development.
Examples of contributions range from
- The provision of high quality public realm
- New open space
- Funding school places
- Funding employment training schemes
The draft London Bridge investment framework identifies a number of physical, economic, and social projects in the London Bridge area which could be delivered using section 106 funds. The draft has been widely consulted on and the final version includes all amendments as a result of the consultation process. The framework will now be presented to the executive member for regeneration for final approval.
