Young Friends of Parks

The Young Friends of Parks (YFP) aims to encourage young people aged 8 to 14 to become involved in their local park. Currently there are three parks which have YFP groups
YFP activities
The YFP members work very hard to help make their park a more fun place for other children and young people. The young people also get to go on free residential holidays and trips.
So far the members have
- received funding for fitness equipment for Peckham Rye Park and decided upon an outdoor gym space
- created interpretation signs for the School Nature Garden in Peckham Rye Park
- received funding for a community allotment in Southwark Park and planted this up
- worked with another youth project called Community Space Challenge to spray a large mural in Southwark Park
- contributed towards the Help a London Park campaign which successfully received £2 million from the Mayor of London to redevelop Burgess Park
