Peckham Rye Park and Common Facilities

Cafe on the rye


Café on the Rye

A new café opened next to the car park in late 2007. It has stunning views over the common and a range of delicious homemade food for you to enjoy.

During the winter months the cafe is open everyday between 9am to 4pm. You can contact the cafe on 020 8693 9431.




Adventure play area

This play area is run by the Children's Services department and is currently closed for improvement work to include a new adventure play centre and multi use games area. The site is currently due to reopen in Spring 2008.

Duck pond Peckham park pond

There are two ponds in the park near Strakers Road.

Bowling green

The bowls club can be contacted by using the contact details at the bottom of this page.


Football pitch

The pitch can be booked for the length of a match (90 minutes) through the bookings office on 020 525 1050.

  • Senior pitches cost £42.00
  • Junior pitches cost £22.00
  • Small sided pitches for young players cost £16.00



Sexby Gardens in Peckham Rye Park

Gardens

Sexby Gardens is a formal garden complete with rose pergolas. The Japanese Garden opened in 1908 and is due for restoration. The Japanese shelter will also be restored.

Informal games area

Parts of the park are flat and grassy, suitable for informal games such as rounders, frisbee and five a side football.

Kids play area

Suitable for ages two to 14 years.

The skate park can be found next to the adventure play area. It is free of charge.


Toilets

Toilets and baby changing facilities are available in the cafe or toilet block in the park near Strakers Road.


The park is accessible to wheelchair users and there are disabled toilet facilities in the cafe and toilet block.



Please note that barbecuing and flying model aircraft is not allowed either in the park, or on the common.
