Southwark Libraries EventsWe have events for all ages and interests.
From author talks to speed dating there's always something going on in Southwark Libraries.
We have had Andrea Levy talking about her life, 'Small Island', and other works; Tayo showing teenagers the ins and outs of cartooning; Michael Rosen sending children into fits of laughter listening to his life story; and speed dating in the stacks for Valentine's Day.
We have got book groups for adults throughout Southwark. Come along and discover new and exciting writers and broaden your reading horizons and meet new people.
There are several teenage reading groups, (TRG's) meeting regularly to discuss books, learn how to rap or selecting books for our libraries. You can make new friends and pick up some great books, whether you are into graphic novels, horror, science fiction or romance.
For children there are family reading groups were you will have a chance to get hold of the latest books first as well as quizzes, special events and refreshments.
Homework help clubs provide children with essential study support from dedicated and trained staff. One to one help is available and sessions are free. All homework help clubs are drop in sessions, so you do not need to book in advance.
We run special activities for children during the school breaks and over the summer you can join in the reading challenge for fun and prizes.
Family reading groups give children a chance to discuss books with friends and family. Every library runs regular baby and toddler sessions with storytelling, singing and craft activities to keep your youngster happy.
If you live in a Sure Start or Children's Centre area, visit one of our Bookstart Plus sessions. With reading, storytelling, rhymes and songs, they're a great way to build up your child's concentration and confidence
