The National Year of Reading 2008 was launched by Michael Rosen, Children's Laureate at Dulwich Library on January 30 2008. Children from local schools were entertained with humourous jokes based on his life and works.

Take the Team Read challenge!
It's not too late to join Team Read - our summer reading challenge. This year we are using the Olympics theme to encourage children to read books over the summer break. Everyone taking part receives bronze, silver and gold rewards as well as a personalised certificate to celebrate their reading achievements.

Feed your child's imagination
Our shelves are packed with stories to keep your little wonder spellbound. All your child's favourites are here, from Where's Spot to Harry Potter.
Reading Groups
Pop into one of our Chatterbooks reading groups you'll find quizzes, activities and the chance to get hold of the latest books first.

Homework helpers
If your child is looking for help with their homework, our homework helpers can give expert advice at your local library.
Have fun with others
All our libraries run free baby and toddler sessions with storytelling, singing and craft activities to keep your youngster happy.
Early literacy
Visit one of our Bookstart Plus sessions run with the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education and supported by Children's Centres. With reading, storytelling, rhymes and songs, they are a great way to build up your child's concentration and confidence.
