Password Scheme

There are unscrupulous people who prey on the old and the vulnerable. They may persuade old people to let them into their homes on the pretext that they are working for the council, or a gas, water or electric company. They may then steal whatever they can find.

To beat the conmen, Southwark Council's housing department has introduced a password scheme. This was originally introduced last year for visually impaired residents. The scheme has proven so useful that all council tenants can now sign up.

How it works

Under the password scheme people can choose their own password, which is logged onto the estate property management database.

Then each time a housing officer or repair worker calls, the password is given to the tenant to gain access. Nobody else knows this password so the scheme offers a great deal of security.

For more information about the password scheme contact your area housing office.
